GardenSmart AI™ ("GardenSmart AI," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

• Plant profiles you create (names, locations, care settings)
• Moisture readings and watering history you log
• Photos you take within the app for plant identification and assessment
• Gardener profile information from the onboarding questionnaire
• Emoji health observations you record
• Calendar tasks and care schedules you create

We also collect limited technical information automatically:

• Device type and operating system version
• App usage and feature interaction data (anonymized)
• General geographic region (USDA zone) for weather and regional intelligence features
• Crash reports and performance data

How We Use Your Information

• To provide personalized plant care recommendations
• To generate your Today's Watering Plan and Garden Walk
• To identify plants, pests, and diseases from photos you submit
• To deliver regional pest and disease alerts relevant to your zone
• To improve GardenSmart AI's recommendations over time
• To send GardenSmart Messages about your specific plants

Photos and AI Processing

When you take photos within GardenSmart AI for plant identification, light assessment, repotting check, or fertilizer label scanning, those images are sent to our AI processing service (Anthropic Claude) for analysis. Photos are processed to generate your recommendation and are not stored permanently on our servers beyond what is necessary to provide the feature.

Data Storage

Your garden data, plant profiles, and care history are stored locally on your device and, when you enable cloud sync, securely in our cloud database. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal data with advertisers. We may share anonymized, aggregated data (such as regional plant health trends) to improve our regional intelligence features.

We work with the following trusted service providers:

• Anthropic — AI reasoning and plant identification
• OpenWeatherMap — weather data
• Unsplash — plant photography
• Firebase (Google) — cloud storage and authentication

Your Rights

• You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings
• You may export your garden data at any time
• You may opt out of anonymized data collection in Settings
• You may request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children's Privacy

GardenSmart AI is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of GardenSmart AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
